How to Read a Datasheet for Procurement Decisions
A useful datasheet should separate continuous limit, short-duration peak, and test condition. If the document does not state voltage, ambient temperature, duty cycle, mounting, or winding revision, it should not be used as the only basis for sample or PO approval.
- Compare torque-speed points under the same bus voltage and control strategy.
- Check whether continuous torque is tied to a realistic thermal path for your housing.
- Confirm resistance, inductance, and Kt/Ke belong to the same winding revision.
- Use the acceptance table to convert technical data into sign-off criteria.
